Diego Ramirez - Huehuetenango, Guatemala
Diego is a first generation coffee grower who lives with his wife in the small town of Q’antxabina. He and his wife bought the farm in 2017 knowing they wanted to plant coffee - but they had little knowledge about the crop. That’s why they joined the El Sendero Cooperative, and have also worked closely with the Primavera agronomy team - they now have the knowledge needed to cultivate high quality coffee.
The El Sendero cooperative provides coffee producers support and information around Concepcion Huista in Huehuetenango region. The cooperative was formed in 2016 and it has grown rapidly. It currently serves 659 members, of which 350 produce coffee. The cooperative now operates its own receiving warehouse in order to make it easier for its members to reach the market with their high quality coffees..

Diego’s farm has about 3 pickings per year. The coffee cherries are carefully selected and depulped the same day they are picked. After being depulped, the coffee is placed in a tank and dry fermented for about 36 hours. Then, it is dried on the patio for about 7 days, and Diego himself is in charge of making sure the coffee is turned every 40 minutes to ensure thorough and even drying.
This coffee has been imported by Primavera Coffee Importers.
